Google paired with project blocs to bring coding to life for kids, so they can learn about computers and coding in a tactile and engaging way. This establishes a new paradigm for learning computer science: it takes a language typically only understood through screens and keyboards, and makes it tangible. Project Bloks was also designed as an open hardware platform, enabling developers and educators to build tangible programming applications that are innovative, educational and fun.
I looked at these as part of my 505 project, looking at children and the use of technology. This inspired me to look into tactile design and how children can learn things hands on. It's also important as it shows that technological ideas and processes can be learnt in a different way away from the computer. Another reason this inspires me is it shows the importance of kids learning about coding and softwares, as this is the future. I think people underestimate how clever children can be and what they are capable of.
