Enrichment: Nintendo

Nintendo Lab Kit
  • Nintendo has designed a 'Labo Kit' which allows users to use and build objects which go around the console.
  • The different cardboard options available are a car, a motorbike, a doll's house or a piano.
  • They transform the cardboard pieces into playable, real life pieces
  • Nintendo are hoping that the Labo kit will increase interest in the Switch console and broaden its audience, appealing to children and adults alike.
  • Can (the Toy-Cons) be incorporated into other forms of gameplay?
  • enable players to maker their creations, personalise them, and enjoy the (inherent) gameplay experiences.

Again, this was another aspect of design which I looked at for the 505 brief, this was important to me, as it shows the importance of combining real life objects with technology and how they can be used hand in hand and technology can be used in different ways.

It was interesting to see how materials as simple as cardboard could be used to enhance a game and the experience of playing for children.
