6D2, 6A2 - Demonstrating knowledge and an understanding of my own practice as well as how I have presented myself to target audience and how I intend to apply this to my future career.
During Level 6 I have enjoyed carrying out briefs of my choice, focusing on children and education, which allowed me to gain more knowledge and research into various aspects of teaching and education. Working on projects, in collaborations and independently and designing in general still hasn’t made me change my mind, I don’t think working in a studio or freelancing is for me. Teaching excites me and I’m looking forward to starting a new chapter with a career I have always been interested in, whilst also still being able to bring skills and knowledge from my degree and employ creativity and creative thinking to my job and in my classroom.
My next step is to continue in further education to complete my Primary PGCE at University of Chester, which consists of two school placements as well as teaching and classes in University. The PGCE runs from September 2019 to July 2020, after that I will complete an NQT (Newly Qualified Teacher) year, before hopefully traveling teaching English or within Primary schools abroad.
My aims are to bring creativity and fun into every subject, as I feel this is how children learn and engage best, I want them to be able to enjoy school and I feel like my degree has best prepared me for this. I want to bring innovative ideas to both the school as a whole and the classroom, whether that be after school clubs, lesson plans, resources and classroom layout or displays.
Completing a degree in Graphic Design has given me a huge array of skills which I can take with me into not only teaching but any other careers I may pursue and in everyday life in general. It also means that if I ever want to get back into the creative industries or similar career paths I will have the skills, portfolio and experience to do so.
