Market Drayton Junior School
My work experience at Market Drayton Junior School was
invaluable, even though I have has a number of experiences in schools
previously at this placement I was able to take a class for the first time
where I carried out short design task with them. Allowed me to focus on their
creativity which is important to me and combine my teaching and design skills
together. I also learnt a lot about how schools work, a number of different
resources, websites, teaching approaches as well as helpful advice and contacts
which I will remember and take with me when beginning my PGCE. It also allowed
me to gather further research for a few of my extended practice projects.
Progression Ambassador
Carrying out my role as a Progression Ambassador at Leeds Arts
University has allowed me to gain experience working with various aged children
in a number of scenarios. I worked as part of Young Creatives on a Saturday,
assisting tutors deliver lessons on a range of art and design skills, working
with groups aged 7-11 and 11-17. I also had opportunities to work with school
groups, in a range of workshops from helping with portfolio development to
creating paper Roman mosaics. I’ve learnt a lot about the jobs and careers that
are available in both an educational and creative context as well as gaining
invaluable experience working with children which will only better my career
and teacher training.
